Aberfoyle Golf Club
Central & Loch Lomond
Sitting at the foot of the Menteith Hills, on the southern border of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, Aberfoyle is one of Scotland’s most scenic and interesting golf courses. The views from the course are breathtaking. From Ben Lomond in the west, down the upper valley of the River Forth to the bulwark of Stirling Castle, the scenery is magnificent. The course itself is quite short, but requires a wide variety of imagination and shotmaking. It is ideal for both high and low handicap players and is an ideal country location for group outings. The recently refurbished clubhouse offers a friendly and informal welcome to all. Only 25 miles from Glasgow, and 15 from Stirling, Aberfoyle is a great place to enjoy golf.

Cardross Golf Club
Central & Loch Lomond
Cardross Golf Club was founded in 1895. The current golf course layout benefited from design changes recommended by James Braid, which were implemented in 1921. Cardross has also played host to the Scottish Professional Championships in 1992, which was won by the then future Open Champion Paul Lawrie. Generous undulating fairways and large deciduous trees are features of the golf course and it tends to play much longer than the yardage suggests. The Club has a welcoming clubhouse, excellent catering, a well-stocked Professional’s shop and is one of the best inland parkland golf courses in the West of Scotland. Being less than 6 miles from the world renowned Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park, with stunning views over the river Clyde and only 20 minutes from Glasgow Airport, makes Cardross easily accessible.

The King’s Course, Gleneagles
Central & Loch Lomond
Opened in 1919, the King’s is a triumph of golf course design. Every hole is a surprise — not one is overlooked by another so that you have the glorious sensation of being the only ones on the course. The King’s is a tough track and has hosted many great championships; James Braid’s plan for the course was to test even the best players’ shot-making skills. The King’s is arguably the best inland course in Scotland — when he first played here, Lee Trevino famously remarked ‘If Heaven is as good as this, I sure hope they have some tee times left’ — and its eighteenth is one of the most glorious finishes in golf.

The PGA Centenary Course, Gleneagles
Central & Loch Lomond
Designed and built by Jack Nicklaus, the PGA Centenary is the newest of the Gleneagles courses. In complete contrast to its elderly regal relatives, the PGA Centenary Course was made rather than placed, and the great rolling banks of rough and broad lush fairways are more redolent of the modern golf courses in the US than Scotland. As such, the PGA Course is unique and provides an opportunity for the visitor to refresh himself after the rigours and challenges posed by the King’s and Queen’s. Scots themselves love the PGA Course perhaps because it is more forgiving than moSt The PGA course was the venue for the Ryder Cup in 2014.

The Queen’s Course, Gleneagles
Central & Loch Lomond
The most benign but perhaps the most beautiful of Gleneagles’ courses, The Queen’s is considered to be James Braid’s most elegant layout. Braid’s brief was to create an easier second course after the King’s, but he clearly couldn’t resist designing a course that, although shorter, is nevertheless as hard to score on as its neighbour. Accurate tee shots are the order of the day while the smaller greens require a deft putting stroke.
