The Links at Fancourt Golf Club, George
The Links at Fancourt is an awe-inspiring example of magnificent design and golf-course construction, about which designer Gary Player says, “Links golf is how the game originated and at The Links we take golfers back to the roots of golf — and they can play a ‘British Open’ all of their own!” The Links is without doubt the most impressive piece of golf design and construction ever in South Africa. When playing this amazing course, it is difficult to believe that one is not in Scotland or Ireland, until, that is, one notices the imposing Outeniqua mountain range that rises impressively in the background. The Links was the host venue for the 2003 Presidents Cup and 2005 Women’s World Cup of Golf.
Montagu Golf Course at Fancourt, George
The Fancourt Resort and estate complex near the Garden Route Town of George is South Africa’s premier golf resort destination. The Montagu course was built in 1991 by Gary Player and recently redesigned by renowned architect David McLay Kidd, no expense has been spared to protect its reputation as one of the best conditioned layouts in South Africa. Although a coastal venue, Montagu is a serenely beautiful parkland course, the direction of play clearly signaled by its tree lines, knife edge manicuring and starkly visible bunkering. A great part of its allure is its user-friendliness: a variety of tees make it widely accessible and the rough isn’t overly difficult.

Pinnacle Point Golf Club, Mossel Bay
Pinnacle Point stretches along four kilometers of spectacular coastline and boasts dramatic cliff-side holes and over 1000 acres of unspoiled beachfront. It is comparable with the best in the world and truly is a design masterpiece. The views are awe inspiring, with dramatic coastal views of the ocean from all area’s of the course. Oubaai Golf Course, Herolds Bay
Oubaai is situated some 20 minutes from George Airport on the coastline of The Garden Route at Herolds Bay. Oubaai Golf Club is a Championship Golf Course designed by 3 times Major Championship Winner Ernie Els. Els himself has placed Oubaai as his favorite course in the world. The Golf Course is a Links layout where veld grasses line the lush fairways and greens. The elements, predominantly the wind, play a role in the defenses of the course; the course being a coastal golf course. However you will find generous fairways off the tees but in the spirit of the course these are well bunkered to penalize any stray or ill-considered drives. The greens are in excellent condition and roll smooth and true. Oubaai is a course that will reward the well-executed shot and penalize any wayward shots in the true time honored tradition of a championship golf course.
Simola Golf Club, Knysna
The views around this Jack Nicklaus Signature course are awe-inspiring and it is clear to see why Simola takes its place as one of South Africa’s premier golfing destinations. Set in probably the most scenic town in Africa, situated lower than the ridges that surround it — and therefore untroubled by the wind that plagues so may coastal courses — and boasting an unusual configuration of five par-5s and five par-3s, Simola offers challenging and rewarding golf for all level of players.

Located in the eastern Cape, about 1 hour from Port Elizabeth, is South Africa’s pure links!
